About Agro Food Trade Centre (AFTC)
Agro Food Trade Centre-AFTC (formerly Tamilnadu Foodgrains Marketing Yard), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), has established several infrastructure facilities for the benefit of Cereals, Pulses and Staples (CPS) Cluster, existing in and around Madurai, in a span of 30 acres of land at Sikkanthar Chavadi, Alanganallur Road, Madurai, Tamilnadu, within Madurai Municipal Corporation limit, under Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme, 2003, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion – DIPP (now Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade – DPIIT), of the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry, New Delhi, with the Government of India grant-in-aid and Stakeholder Members’ contribution. Under the dynamic, exceptional and visionary leadership of Shri S.Rethinavelu, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, amazing infrastructural facilities are provided in a built-up area of 5.5 lakh sq. ft. having 5.5 lakh sq.ft. internal approach roads, container and car parking areas. The Executive Director.Shri K.Suresh Kumar and Director-Secretarial Admin Shri J.Rajamohan were of great assistance to him in establishing the project with loyalty, integrity, deligence and perfection.
This is the one and only infrastructural project for grains and staples based industries and trade in India under IIU Scheme. Now this organization is acting as a nodal agency for solving the farming, processing and marketing problems encountered by the farmers, processors and manufactures. We are also rendering technical advice and guidance on day to day basis for improving Agro Food processing and trading activities including export and thereby generating move employment oppotunities. Further, we aim in upgrading the pre and post processing steps for rice milling, dhall milling, besan processing, oil crushing, millets processing and jaggery making etc., by utilizing the up-to-date infrastructural facilities of this organization, enabling our Trade to successfully confront the international competition in quality and price. The members supply certified quality materials to the government departments and to organized chain stores in national and international markets and ultimately consumers are assured of quality value added products.We address all the problems of stakeholders “from farm to fork” viz. Farmers, Processors, Manufacturers, Traders, Exporters and Consumers. It is an infrastructure project and no manufacturing activity is allowed in this site
This unique project which aims in providing necessary infrastructures for Cereals, Pulses & Staples (CPS) Milling Cluster in and around our area is being implemented at a cost of Rs.40 crore in 30 acres site at Madurai under the Chairmanship of Shri.
